Home Remedies for Heartburn

  • Eat several small meals a day instead of three big ones.

  • Avoid caffeine, chocolate, peppermint, spearmint, alcohol and carbonated drinks.

  • If you are overweight, losing weight will help.

  • If you smoke, stop.

  • Drink lukewarm -- not cold -- water with your meals.

  • Raise the head of your bed six inches to let gravity help your digestion by putting six-inch blocks under the legs of the head of the bed, and try a wedge under the mattress (extra pillows don't help and can make it worse).
